Services include larval surveillance and control(Bti by helicopter large wetlands ground app. to small ones) Adult mosquito surveillance and control (truck-mounted aerosol app. of resmethrin to town streets) WNV surviellance,ditch maintenance and Altosid to roadside catchbasins. Out of 26 communities served , 17 do not opt for resmethrin app. In a recent study on pesticides and childhood brain cancer,resmethrin was listed as a chemical strongly associated with childhood brain cancer. Children with brain cancer were 11 times more likely than those without to have mothers who were exposed to pesticide sprays and foggers during pregnancy. It is listed as a neurotoxin by WHO The product used by EMMC is Scourge,which is 18% resmethrin,54% pyperonyl butoxide (a"possible" carcinogen according to the EPA(notorius for their understatements) ,a neurotoxin and endocrine disrupter) along with petroleum and other "inert" ingredients of unknown toxicity. It is mixed with a carrier oil for application so I would think it might leave a residue of some sort. Pyperonyl butoxide increases the toxicity of any dioxin that may be in the enviornment. My expertise: My only son Nathan died of complications from brain cancer he was diagnosed with when he was 3. He died 4 days after his 28th birthday. He would have been 32 this month. Between 1975 and 1998, childhood cancer has gone up nearly one percent each year.Brain cancer in children has gone up 50%.
Since May have this year when our local paper ran a front page article regarding a review of the evidence linking toxic chemicals and childhood cancer published by the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production,I"ve spent a lot of time educating myself about the subject. I am outraged by what I discover. I have launched the Ten Hawks Project to raise awareness of the devastation untested chemicals our causing to our children.Ten Hawks si my son's Indian name. My goal is to mobilize mothers to fight for our (in my case yours) Constitutional right to Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness. I am a recent TMM and would like to hear from mothers who suspect that environmental toxins have affected their children(cancer,birth defects,autism,learning disabilities, asthma ).
