Regarding Cynthia Bailey's message:

Certainly this information is disturbing, and amplifies my own earlier
statement advocating use of personal mosquito repellant when and as needed
and not spraying greatly.

Unfortunately, in the Western Civilisations particularly, there has long
been an attitude of resources are unlimited, and the world is so great that
my waste products will disperse to harmless levels. These waste products
range from horrendous - cyanide and many other toxins - to "benign" such as
carbon dioxide. Yet we see that cancers of all sorts are rising and other
health problems (asthma etc) are too. It is fair to say that any reduction
of effluent is a positive step, some bigger than others. There is no
pressing need, no vital public health risk to be met, that necessitates
spraying for mosquitos. It is principally an issue of comfort. Let's cancel
spraying in Framingham.

On a side note: The Bush Administration is so set against policies that
would change how big business operates that they have dropped out of the
Kyoto Treaty to restrict the emission of green house gasses (CO2 primarily)
and just ordered a 10 year study to re-evaluate the trend toward global
warming. This despite a near universal acceptance amoung scientists that the
trend is dramatic and at least partly man made.

Governor Romney has determined that Massachusetts will be one of a coalition
of 10 States that will work on their own - without a Federal Program - to
begin to coordinate the reduction of green house gasses. I've said before I
don't want too put Romney on a pedestal and I disagree with him on many
policies, but on this one he's on the mark and deserves support from us, the
people, as he will be at odds with many legislators and special interests.
