Do you have the PostScript Type 1 versions of Helvetica and/or Times installed
on your system? I had problems creating PDFs from any app after I was recently
updated to Windows 7, and the problem was ultimately solved by remoiving the
Helvetica font. The guy at the third-party helpdesk our company uses for
first-level Windows and MS Office assistance said he saw some tech notes about
problems with the Times font, while the guy I got referred to at our in-house
helpdesk said he found knowledge base articles about problems with Helvetica.
We removed Helvetica, and everything started working as it should. Neither help
desk technician provided any links or references to the articles they claim to
have found, so I don't know any details beyond what I've related here.

Actually, it seems to affect printing to PDF from all applications. This
morning I could not get a PDF from even a short document in Word, even though
it worked yesterday for the PC Tech.

Thanks,

Clint

Can you print longer files to the PDF printer instance from other applications?
Word, for instance?

We are finally moving to Windows 7 (just as Windows 8 is around the corner!).
I just got a Dell 64 bit Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz machine with 4 GB Ram. It has
Windows 7 Enterprise loaded. I have FrameMaker 10.0.0.388 and Acrobat X 10.1.3.

Everything works great until I try to create a PDF from FM. The whole system
just hangs, or seems to be printing so slowly, several minutes per page, that
it might as well be hung. I have Adobe set as the default printer, and I have
tried printing directly and Save As with the same result. Simple, one page
documents will sometimes print or save to PDF, but anything longer hangs or
takes forever. Even printing to PS gives the same results; one page works, but
anything longer hangs. I wasted most of yesterday with a very senior and
knowledgeable PC Tech and got nowhere.

If we can't fix it I will have to go back to XP to get any work done.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Clint
