Problem solved! We finally figured it out, of course it was nothing we expected.
The manuals that I mainly work on use a small PDF inserted on the master pages as a logo. We have used this setup for many years with no trouble. A colleague noticed that he had trouble with one of these manuals, but not with one that uses a different logo. We replaced the PDF logo with a TIF version and now everything is fine. Go figure. Somewhere between FM10, Acrobat X, and Win 7, 64 Bit, using a PDF as a graphic tripped us up.
