当方は amd64です。
期待して 8.0 からシステム再コンパイル(make buildworld...など)で 9.0-RC3
にアップしました。
まず、デバイスは ad0のままで ada0には変わりません。
そして csupで最新のportsに更新して grub2(1.98)をmakeしました。
しかし
# grub-install /dev/ad0
/usr/local/sbin/grub-probe: error: no such partition.
Auto-detection of a filesystem module failed.
...
でした。
Extiplでも
# extipl show ad0
/dev/ad0: IPL Magic not found.
です；
