Hi Eric,

Sorry, I'm SO lazy to read all this...
I just skip to the things pointing to me.

Hi! Very nice topic :-)

I know you like it, but we have discussed this once and once again...

For KEYB, Aitor's TODO lists memory tuning, PC-XT support, Japanese
API (?), beeping (?) and a layout librarian. I think PC-XT support is
required for 1.0 (unless you say PC-XT users must use MKEYB) while
the rest would be very nice but not 100% required...

memory tuning, beep and PC-XT support are to come. The rest are already implemented (it says KEYB 2.0 pre-3, that is, current version).

MKEYB can NOT be used in XT software, as it relies in the int15h interface, not present, AFAIK, on XT's. FD-KEYB implements this for XT, but the only problem for 1.0 is that I use PUSHA/POPA for the resident stuff, and that I compile the non-resident stuff with the {$G+} directive. Of course, this is the easy part, the difficult part is to do the changes and TEST.

By the way, about ANSI DISPLAY MODE NLSFUNC: Work good enough for me
but do not yet model MS internals closely. And PRINT PRINTQ: Rarely

I hope DISPLAY will be ready in 2 more versions. MODE and NLSFUNC will have optimally to share sources for what remains.

used, but adding device selection and buffer sizing would be
quite feasible if we want to shorten the 1.0 wishlist.

Again, who volunteers? talking is cheap.

Generally: We started by wanting to clone MS DOS 3.3x, now we
clone 5.0 and include several clones of 6.xx add-ons even. We

and of 7.10.
I would suggest that 1.0-preview style of PR, collect test results,
decide what should be fixed even BEFORE we release "Blair's 1.0 preview"
distro (I imagine things like "wait for a new KEYB and MEM snapshot",
but no ground-shaking updates, as we are busy with waiting all the time).

I support this, but in a later stage, not NOW. I continue to support Jeremy's idea to call the next release BETA10.

Aitor
