What partitions are on it? Did you set the HD jumper appropriately for the NexStar before putting it in? > As part of this installation process, I would like to format this > USB-converted drive, but when I select that option, I get the following > message: > WARNING: ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK > DRIVE C: WILL BE LOST! Normal procedure to format is to specify which drive to format, such as "FORMAT C: /S". > While I could easily choose to do so, I am concerned that I might end up > erasing the wrong Drive C, i.e. the hard drive where my Linux > installation is located. What I want to know is ... is this message > referring to my USB-converted drive or the hard drive where my Linux > installation is located? What does FDISK tell you about available partitions? You can't format partitions that don't exist or that the OS does not see. Just because you put a HD in a USB enclosure doesn't mean the OS found the device or any partitions it may have on it. The NexStar I have is pretty good at being ignored by the operating systems I've tried to use it with. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
