The fact that file managers work when COPY doesn't tells me that you can't just assume it's a network problem. SHARE might fix it, but there's more to it than that. At least one of the possible culprits (file managers, FreeDOS, or 4DOS) is obviously doing something different than the others, and it's worth at least a little effort to try and find out what that is, IMO.
