It's not overly paranoid to think that there is such a thing as hackers
and other malicios people who want to look at your data or send bad stuff
to your computer. I mean, evil IS part of human behavior after all. It
would be rediculously stupid to assume that there are no evil people on
the internet who are constantly searching for ways to annoy or harm you
in some way.
I am useing a very good personal firewall, Zone Alarm, and sometimes I
get port scans from sites that are up to no good. Just because I believe
there is such a thing as evil in the human race that doesn't mean I'm
overly paranoid or have paranoid delusions. I'm a cynic when it comes to
human behavior, I always assume the worst about people. Why? Maybe it's
because, deep down, I want to be pleasantly surprised about people
instead of unpleasantly surprised. Ever think of that anyone?
What if you always go into something assumeing that nothing will go
right, that nothing good will happen? What is your reaction when
something good DOES happen? Why, you are probably quite pleased that you
were wrong and very pleasantly surprised. If I'm going to be surprised
about something, I would rather be pleased as a result of the surprise.
:)
I always assume, right off the bat, that the government is up to no good,
and analyse everything as much as possible to find some reason that I'm
wrong. If I'm wrong, YAY!! :) If I'm right, well, I'm just very angry
and argumentative and stuff.
