At least the path used to reach it should be removed, and replaced with
a -I flag in Autotools, and in cmake if that's necessary.
We can remove the unused defs after we cut over to cmake.
I think we need to demonstrate a MinGW build on Windows that works as
well as 0.96 before we can cut over. Dave W. doesn't seem to have the
time right now, and hasn't been building from SVN for a while because
someone broke the build for MinGW and Window. So, is anyone else able to
demonstrate a properly working MinGW build on Windows?
