actually phase scrambler probably no use and actually reduce intel. Useful for analog modulation systems with symmetrical limiting requirements.

-3dB @ 140Hz would be my first   start, 12dB/octave.

and also see how a phase scrambler goes.

Actually it might benefit from a simple fixed 100 Hz HPF.

the thing is, because speaker's voices are different, you'll always do better with a bit of equalisation regardless of the microphone...

the trick though is to have sufficient listeners' comments as to make the observations significant

quite a few apostrophees in there, wonder how I can re write that to be less demanding of English understanding

like, English Lite :

The thing is, because the voices of different operators are different, a small amount of microphone equalization is always with benefit.

it is important that in the process of setting the microphone equalization parameters, to use the comments of many listeners as to get an average of opinion.

Hi Glen,

We have just such an EQ in FreeDV GUI (Tools-Filter), based on sox code.

But sure, feel free to integrate that with the SM1000 :-)

I think the real key here is to set up the SM1000 mic so it's suitable for Codec 2.  This is a mechanical problem. Plenty of other low costs external mics work well with the SM100 already.

Cheers,

David

Maybe a 3 band simple parametric equaliser in the audio input code would be a useful addition.

I guess you're gonna  want me to write one since i suggested it?

wont take too many cycles.

Hmm, I'll look into the Mic and experiment a bit. Thanks.
