I have fought long and hard with some SSL-related problem
with IE (never had a problem with netscape). Microsoft
has several problem reports on file regarding redirects
and SSL and cookies. These describe bizarre interactions
between server SSL, client SSL, and sometimes also talk
about packet lengths. By some freak coincidence (yeah,
right) it works fine if you use an MS server and an MS
client. In reality, IE is just a POS.
The next time I work on this, I think I'm going to try
replacing redirects with META REFRESH stuff. I hate
that because it messes with the client's back button,
but it might solve it. Be sure to let us know if you
make any progress on this.
