Are you using any modprobe options for msp3400? If it doesn't detect
your standard correctly then you'll have sound problems. There is a
workaround in Freevo to reset some msp3400 inputs / outputs and that
may be the reason you get sound after your first capture.
Also, how new / old are your ivtv drivers and firmware?
I'm using the 8 nov ivtv modules and the latest firmware
(pvr250_17_21226.exe). The problem is solved now and indeed was caused
by incorrect options to msp3400.
