I think you can find advantages and disadvantages to both -
we have clients who also have jobs as well as there 'internet activities'
and they like the fact they can sit at there desk at lunchtime and access
there web based control panel whereas a windows one is stuck at home -
web based is also good if travelling etc and you have your single license on
your desktop not your laptop and having had 3 laptops stolen from
hotels....but thats a different story..
as for nasty URL's we stick the impotant ones in the toolbar on explorer or
in your favourites
but I don't have any definitive data from my clients as to whether they want
a windows based system over the web based one - although we offered our beta
testers both options during the testing of freeVSD none have taken up the
windows client or even asked about it - but again thats just 10 testers so
maybe not a fair comparison
One thing I will say is its new and sure will provoke strong feelings which
is good and I like the fact that Idaya are doing some thinking outside the
box and this could be a great opportunity for web hosts who adopt it to
steal some ground on those that don't and that sure would be nice.
As for the price - I suppose we need to sit down and do the figures and
maybe see some more info on the actual licence and per host costs to decide
