Isn't it something like a false distinction to call all this "lying"? After all, we have von Neumann's extrapolation of Tarski's (or perhaps Goedel's) work claiming that it's impossible to tell the whole truth. And we have non-well-founded set theory to tell us that it's problematic to tell nothing but the truth.
