My first observation is that on my system (Linux Mint 19.2) 'make
localdoc' almost immediately returns a security error:

This is due to an apparently well known change to ImageMagick to
prevent creation of postscript files and some other things by default.
Do you know if there is an alternative to 'convert' for this
conversion that would avoid having to change the security options?
