We're running 3 CF 4.5 Enterprise Servers (production, integration and
development) on Solaris with 40 or so developers (10 "dedicated".) We're
hosting intranet apps --- some quite busy. The site database is DB2.
3.0 is where we started and that was a bit less than desirable. Haven't had
too many complaints about 4.5 that are attributable to Solaris. Allaire
support used to be iffy but that has improved also.

Subject: Re: [Fusebox] does CF work well on UNIX/Solaris box?
We recently had a client who wanted to go the Solaris/iPlanet/Oracle route,
but their ISP (UUNet) is not supporting CF on Solaris. I don't know why.
At any rate, partly because of this they ended up going the NT/IIS/SQL
Server route.
If anyone has any good reasons to avoid CF on Solaris, I'd love to hear 'em.
We definitely want to branch out into other platforms besides NT. Linux, of
course, is an option, but...
It's my impression (pls correct me if I'm wrong) that the larger, public
company -type clients are most likely going to want a high-end,
enterprise-level solution, and that Solaris
and Oracle fit that bill better than NT and SQL Server. Don't want to start
a religious war here, people, just want some info...
:)
Thanks.
