Nathan,
I found picking up PHP after CF to be fairly easy once you get over the
scripting vs. tag based tantrums!! The only problem is, I have only been
able to use PHP to build one site. There is just no demand for it in the
corporate world.
I have started with Java since it has taken such a root in the web
industry. I really dont believe that Java is going anywhere. Plus, with CF
moving to a Java based envionment, you cant go wrong. True OO languages like
Java and C++ are definitly around to stay.
Hope this helps a little.

Subject: OT: Your Next Language
Really OT, but I am at the point where I need to learn
another server-side language. I was thinking of
picking up PHP, as I came into CF from the HTML route
and could really use the background a scripting
language can give me. I also like everything I have
seen on this list about using the fusebox method with
PHP.
What I want to know is what all of you Fuseboxers
think is the best server-side language to be learning
now. Java, PHP or ASP? Which one will still be around
in 10 years and is worth my time to learn? Which one
uses basic principles that will help me learn other
languages? What are you learning now and why? Etc...
I don't mean to start a war with this, so please do
not shoot! Let's keep this as informative and logical
as we can please =;>
TIA,
Nathan
