I copied then pasted it into a new blank rule.
Then changed the field names to match our database field names.

Do I need to insert it into an already existing rule?
I thought that It should probably get pasted into a copy of the Rule that
isn't working, but I have no idea where?

I think we're missing something basic here. You said that you pasted the code into a blank rule, right? Okay, so you must have saved that rule with a name, right? So, when you go back and edit that rule again and click Validate, what does the message box show? Also, if you go into the Text Editor for any text frame in your job and insert the variable with the same name as your rule and compose, what do you see in the output?
