It's the old "I am but I'm not" paradox that is pure reform in Carl Barth. Of course, the moment that you mention Calvin's French background you join us in the conventional that you decry as "racist." But I know little of Calvin other than what my Presbyterian teachers taught me in the theology courses at the University of Tulsa and they were talking about Carl Barth. Barth talked a lot like you do. I read a lot of him fifty years ago. My teacher was a Dr. Gamie who had a lot of Cherokee students. He was trained at Saint Andrews in Scotland. He was a good scholar and fun, for a Christian. But then real scholarship is always fun.
