Yes, Jeffrey Sachs.... The man who forgot about the ruble overhang and thereby advised a course of action that wreaked hyperinflation upon the Russians and those other groups that got stuck with the Russian ruble. Russia won't recover for yet many years, and meanwhile pensioners are begging on the sidewalks, while the privileged were allowed to export their rubles for whatever they could get for them, while the West dumped good money into trying to prop it up. What a debacle..
I wonder if Sachs wasn't the fellow who argued for Argentina and others pegging their currencies to the US dollar?
