There is an underlying notion that racism can be "cured." Maybe the cure is to accept that we are all racists in one way or another. This includes us all. All over the world. Maybe its part of the human condition.

It is ignorant and has proven ignoble and it is still practiced and used as an excuse for many policies. We would do better to understand the genius in each group and study our art classes so that we would all learn that French culture is different from Italian, German, English, Russian etc. and that when folks come over here they don't blend but become unconscious streams in the river of America. The unconsciousness of it and the ignorance and lack of appreciation for differences then get explained in the over simplicities of scientific stories about genus, species etc. and get applied in places where they should have never gone and the world gets paranoid. The study of that phenomenon in human behavious is a legitimate one. We didn't need classes to understand it other than historical philosophy courses and good music and art history classes. It is not a difficult error to see once you experience many cultural expressions and their genius. There is, however, the abused groups. The groups that have been so oppressed and removed from the ancient movements, that they still carry somatically, that they are almost split in their expressions. The conflicts of Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court are a good example. But the reality is that without returning to the deep cultural springs that you constantly wear, you will always be condemned to feeling uncomfortable in your skin. Helping people heal is a good thing to do and helping both former oppressors and the oppressed do that is also a good thing to do in my opinion. America should pay for its racist history and Europe should pay for Imperialism. Those are debts owed in the world and no amount of science and prosperity ill gotten deserves impunity. Arthur I believe instead of sublimation you were talking about psychological transfirence.
