It might be dependent on xterm version and/or resource (I'm not sure).
I tried reproducing it just now with #241, using the config that you
provided - but am seeing the cursor lit up properly after the middle
xterm is iconified.
I _have_ seen _recently_ (the past month or two) a different case:
if I start Opera (which mostly obscures xterm), the focus
doesn't transfer to xterm (as if Opera was holding onto the focus until
it finishes initializing).
After Opera's started, there's no problem.
xterm's a self-compile - though the Debian package for #235 behaves
properly (for me).
