A better question woulf be "what problems are you having with iFixit's guides? They're quite good, in my opinion, certainly as good or better than any Apple service guides I've seen. Bruce Johnson ****** — My discomfort stems from several other PowerBook and iBook take- aparts in which I nearly caused myself disaster, but was truly fortunate not to; and also by several other take-apart jobs I realized I needed to do because of the apparent clumsiness of those who had caused the problems I found myself trying to repair/replace. I've found several places in the instructions I've followed where I had questions I felt were obvious which were not addressed by the instructions. One, for example, is how, exactly can one extract a certain rather inaccessible screw, or how not to lose it in the bowels of the machine. Another is how to replace some of those screws in nearly inaccessible places. It would be helpful if I knew whether it would be helpful to use a magnetized screwdriver or other tool (and when not to.) A problem I've encountered with the ifixit.com guides is the narrow color scheme of those screw-removal diagrams in which several different dimension screws need to be removed. These tend to have several similarly colored circles around the screw locations on the same photograph, and its very difficult to impossible for me to differentiate between some of these similarly colored orange to red circles. I wish they would select from among a broader color palette for this reason. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
