usually, older machines like pismi(XD)get very hot when their heat shield is wearing down. it also becomes hot when newer software not entirely designed with the computer in mind is installed or run and the cooling is not very effective. you say that you used it for a time that you could have used to install tiger, so i would expect that. clean out the parts, and look for any signs of wear and tear in the heat shield. also, what surfaces are you using the pismo on? different surfaces mean different air circulation.
