This makes no sense to me either, there is a heat sink on top of the processor and a clutch cover plate covering these parts but these are solid metal and not mechanical parts that wear out. Maybe the solution is to invest in a laptop cooling pad with fans those are only about $20 or less. Or more RAM will also keep the machine from running too hot on processor intensive applications.
Its normal to have heat buildup on all laptops, every Mac laptop I've owned including a Pismo, iBook, PB Alu G4, and Macbook Core Duo gets hot. Thats why Apple says don't use it on a bed or pillow (or your lap), a flat hard surface that can dissipate the heat is best.
