I have a G3 iBook 500 with no sound. 10.4.11. I t shows the volume is up but can't get any sound from speakers. I looked at a manual from PowerBook Medic. But it doesn't refer to any sound card. Do these machines have a separate sound card?
It's likely the sound is set to "mute". Could be a small mute box is checked in either System Preferences>Sound or the utility Applications>Utilities>Audio MIDI Setup.
