Yes what you said is what is happening, Also another problem is I finally got 
the battery to charge it reads 97% but the 4 pilot lights stay on and the 
little button is ineffective is this something I can fix? 
The machine is 9 years old but in pristine cosmetic condition and I want to max 
it out for my collection. It's an icebook  12" 500 USB dual 384MB ram
