Did you try resetting the PMU (Power Management Unit)?
Hold down the three keys at lower left [Fn-Shift-Ctrl] and press the power key.
The indicator light at the base of the screen should come on.
Release all the keys and wait 10 seconds before pressing the power key to restart.

If this doesn't work, the prime suspects are faulty power adaptor, and faulty power board (the small circuit board where the adaptor plugs into the computer).

If the computer does start, you would be well-advised to reset the PRAM (Parameter Random Access Memory). Switch off, or restart the computer. Have the cmd-opt-P-R keys pressed before the startup chime, keep pressing them until you hear the startup chime a second time, and then a third time.
