You didn't say what OS, but here goes.

For Mac OS 9, you're pretty much limited to 16-bit PCMCIA wireless cards
(802.11b). The Lucent/Orinoco WaveLAN cards should work out of the box with
the Airport software. Cicso also has a MacOS 9 driver for their Aironet 340
and 350 cards. (I actually have one of those in my PDQ.) There is a 3rd
party commercial driver which will support some other cards (mostly
Prism2-based like the older Linksys ones). I think Belkin also had a USB
adapter with Mac OS 9 drivers, but then you'd also have to use a USB card.

With Mac OS X, the choices get different. The Cisco has a X driver which
works at least through Panther. The Lucent cards, though, require either a
commercial driver or an outdated open source one. The good news, though, is
that you can go 802.11g. If you can find a card with a Brodcomm chipset,
then it should be supported out of the box by the Airport Extreme drivers.
Conversely, Ralink has a nice set of drivers for cards based on their
chipsets.

Subject: Wireless card for Wallstreet/PDQ? IR functionality for printing?

I'll try to keep this short-

1) I am looking at a PDQ on ebay--what options do I have togo wireless--i.e.
what (any?) card?? I googled and found confliciting info even on what cards
are compatible.

2) The old laser printer says it has IR capability(never used it used an
Asante box)- both HP and Apple say I can forget it--BUT I see in the
Wallstreet manual (I am presumeing that if I get the PDQ the same thing
applies)that it has IR capability- anyone know anything about it? The
printer is an HP 2100M laserjet- thanks

Sheryl
