Another alternative I found for dealing with machines where cards/drivers are 
not always well supported is an ethernet to WiFi dongle - this basically plugs 
into an ethernet port and has a wi-fi chipset internally that you configure 
thru a web interface (much like you would a router or DSL/cable modem) - 
requires absolutely NO driver support on the computer at all - if it has an 
ethernet port this will work.

Only drawback is they often need a USB port for power, or a seperate power 
supply.
