I haven't used straight-up OS9 in about a year now, but I run Classic
with OS X often enough. BUT....
A couple nights ago I was trying to use one of my old Legacy apps (Avery
MacLabel Pro -- I wanted to make new return address labels with my NEW
address on them) under Classic and it just wasn't working right -- the
labels would't print! Well, OK, I temporarily solved the problem by
finding an OS X version of MacLabel Pro (DesignPro) online with which I
was able to at least make adequate labels to start out with, but, since
it wouldn't allow me to convert my old OS 9 version labels (which have
really neat clip art and smartass sayings along with my name and
address), I've decided to use these temporary "dull" ones to starr.
When I set up the computer room/office in the new place, I'm going to
bring my G3/450 B&W into the "fold" and use it as a full OS 9 box. Thus
far, my B&W, which has 2 internal HDs, one of which boots Tiger 10.4.3
and the other OS 9.2.2, has lived by itself in the living room for (a)
posterity since it's just such a cool Mac, and (b) testing.
It'd be nice if I could get my Lombard running again too....but I guess
that's a project best saved for after I set up house and the "regular"
new computer room.
I look forward to having an OS 9 machine around again, not just to be
able run off copies of my revised really cool return address labels, but
also to try Cameron Kaiser's Classilla browser and play a couple old
games too. And because I DO miss OS 9 even though I like OS X.
