I don't know that much about Iomega stuff, I tried to avoid that whole company as much as possible. I thought everything they made was long on hype and short on engineering.
I did have an Iomega external CDRW and it appeared that it was a SCSI drive with various adapters from SCSI-to-USB, or SCSI-to-Firewire. Iomega always used proprietary cables or adapters which was always a hassle. I suspect an external Zip drive may have been similar, and adapters usually kludge things up.
