I cleaned off the paste and gave it new stuff - then put it back
together and pressed the button. Yippee - it is a beautiful thing to
see. I know these pismos are older than dirt, but I really can't find
any keyboard that is better to type on. The thinkpads are pretty nice
and all, but they just don't have that soft feel of the Pismo. Shame
no one makes 'em like that anymore.
Thanks so much everyone. :-)
Really cool that you got it working again. I wish someone did make
Pismos new - they are lovely machines. I had a Lombard which was given
to me which had the cache problem that some of them had. It died. By
then I was addicted and I bought a Pismo second-hand - very like the
Lombard, with the added benefit of working. And I do love that machine.
It allows me to run OS 9 and access old documents and play old games...
I don't know what I will do when it works no more. Well, I do. I'll
consult the list. :)
Out of curiosity, what could I do with my Lombard with the cache
problem? I still have it. It starts up (or it did) but it does things so
slowly that you can't usefully do anything on it.
