I'm sorry to report that the resurrected Pismo only lived until last

I'm skeptical of this diagnosis that the motherboard is failing.

Upon your initial posting, the very first reply said "PRAM battery", to which you replied that the PRAM battery had been unplugged since you got this Pismo and you'd attempt to reconnect it. Then you said the Pismo came back to life, and now it's dead again. This might indicate the old OEM PRAM battery had a tiny residual charge which enabled the back-to-life boot?

I suspect the original reply may have been on target. I believe all these old G3 PowerBooks are notorious for PRAM battery issues. The problem is the cost of a replacement PRAM battery and the difficulty of installing. I've generally seen Pismo PRAM batteries prices around $20-25 each which is crazy expensive for such an old Mac. You might be able to find a cheaper battery of similar size & voltage that you could splice the Pismo connector onto?

If you're giving up on the Pismo, I'd suggest either an iPad or a hackintosh laptop as a replacement.
