Just an update: The Pismo is running cooler now that it has in all the years since I purchased it (used). Now I can run a normal cheap cooling pad ($5 shipped off ebay) through the usb connection - and the Pismo stays blissfully cool on the bottom. Even without the cooler, it only gets mildly warm. Before this, the cooling pad made no difference at all - and only a fairly large personal fan would cool it. I will never doubt the power of good thermal paste.
