Is this an honest question or a troll?

I say that because Mac OS X has been out for two years and every review
of 10.2 says that it is incredible. MacWorld, MacAddict, PC World, PC
Magazine, TechTV, heck its hard to find someone who doesn't think its
the most incredible OS there is.

I also take a little issue with the fact that the Mac community is
upset they will have to start paying for things. I have .Mac now, I
might drop it next year if things don't pick up but aimless complaining
that we should not have to pay [whether for .Mac or for OS upgrades] is
kinda petty.

I know off the top of my head that most of the applications you are
using are OS X native [most or all] but yes you do have to upgrade to
use the underling advantages of Mac OS X, and if you have read anything
about the technical changes in the OS this should make perfect sense to
you, there is no way around it. If you think Adobe should make
Photoshop 6 OS X native [or FileMaker 4.1, or anything else] complain
to the developer, it is really not Apple's doing.

The last reason I suspect this to be a troll is that you start by
talking about how you are a Mac user and have been forever, but you
want to compare Mac OS X to Windows ... If you are such a hardcore Mac
guy why do you care how it stacks up to Windows? I would think that you
would be interested in how it compares to OS 9 since that is what you
say you are using.

If I am way off here I am sorry, and please do set me straight. I would
be more than happy to dump loads of "why OS X ROCKS" info for you if
you really want it.
