  You might want to take a look a ProVUE's database program 
"Panorama." I have not used it under OS X, but the references below 
should give you a feel for its usefulness. FWIW I have used Panorama 
and its predecessor "OverVUE" since the early days of the Mac (1984). 
I've loved it. Personally, I preferred it over FileMaker. I don't 
know for sure regarding version 5, but previous versions have been 
cross-platform (Mac & Windows). And it runs under Classic as well.

Panorama version V runs in Mac OS 8, 9 and X
