- just another quick question: anyone knows of a nice database program with a nice OS X interface? The Apple website has some inviting screenshots of Filemaker 7 that seemed to suggest this version was going to be more OS X-like. I downloaded the trial and it looks exactly like FIlemaker 6, i.e. a classic application hurriedly ported to OS X. I've looked around but I don't seem to find anything that looks good and delivers the goods.

FileMaker 7 blows the doors off of FM6. Don't be fooled by the exterior or the version numbers. This is a major upgrade, and since FM has been osx compatible since 5.5 (iirc) I doubt it's a hurried port. I'm not a real developer, so I can't vouch for the technical details, but I use FM a lot, and keep an ear to the ground in the developer community, and this is a very nice piece of software.

Cheers,
