It's a funny thing about those smaller keyboards. I always thought
that it was a bad idea till I didn't have enough room to put a
keyboard and still have enough to move the mouse around on the pull
out single drawer specifically for computers which only has a width
of 23 1/2"; as I like to have the mouse on the same level as the
keyboard and don't like to have it up on the desk. On my other desk,
it has a very large pull out drawer for keyboard and mouse to
accommodate the larger keyboard.

Alot of times at flea markets or thrift stores, I tend to pick up Mac
things and I bought this very small Mac keyboard, as there have been
various different sizes from the beginning, but this one is about the
smallest I've seen which measures 14 7/8" by 5". The other smaller
one I have is slightly larger: 16" x 6". The smallest one fits very
nicely on the pull out drawer and plenty of room for a mouse pad. I
find that it doesn't bother me at all. I have to say I have never
used the F keys or alot of the keys between the number pad key and
alphabet keys. The only thing I don't like maybe is the way the arrow
keys go. I do like the way they are arranged on a larger keyboard but
not a big deal.

So my point is that you should have a choice in keyboard you want, a
well as the shape of the mouse. Personally I've always preferred the
Kensington Mouse design, as I couldn't imagine having to use that
round mouse but my friend who bought an iMac as his first computer
says the round mouse doesn't bother him at all. So maybe it's all in
what your used to.
