The tiny keyboard is easier than that mouse. I got an Apple Pro Mouse the day
after I got my B&W. Remember that there is an ADB port on the B&W, so you
could use any old Mac mouse/keyboard of your choice.

It is true that some sub-spec memory will not run with OS X. Since you can
replace all 256MB with a single DIMM that's guaranteed to be up to spec for
~$30 USD, I'd suggest that you just replace it. Note that if you have access
to a G4 AGP tower with OS 9 or greater, the Apple System Profiler (ASP) on it
will tell you what type memory is in each slot. Shut down, put it your DIMMs,
restart, take note of what ASP reports, shutdown again and discard the memory
that will give you problems.

As for the HDs, are they SCSI, IDE or one of each? OS X has been reported to
have problems some SCSI cards and some SCSI drives. I wouldn't be surprised to
learn it had troubles with mixed setups, either. If the 4 GB Quantum is IDE,
that was the stock drive for the B&W G3s; it may just be going bad. I know
that the 4 GB drive by mine died and was replaced with a 20GB one by the
original owner.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'not recognized the Finder'. Are you also trying
to use it to read CDs? There is an extension that comes with Toast that
enables that, but unless there's something wrong built-in CD-ROM, I'd
recommend against enabling it. Allowing 2 extensions to manage one device has
just caused troubles for me when trying to burn CDs, which is why I have a
CD-R in the first place.
