If you have an IDE internal Zip drive in your machine I would try
disconnecting it and then trying your burner again. For whatever reason the
Zip drives seem to cause this type of problem.

My G3/300 MT, Rev. C, works fine with an internal Yamaha 8424S (SCSI cable
"stolen" from a Rev. A G3 MT) with and without the EIDE Zip, which came stock
with this machine.

Presently, I am running my MT with three EIDE/UATA hard drives (one of which
is in place of the formerly internal floppy drive), with a new IBM 60 GXP 60
GB drive in the place of the Zip drive.

Previously, the Zip was in its proper place, and I burned hundreds of CDs
with nary a coaster.

One thing seems to be true about Beige G3s ... they take a licking and keep
on ticking ... truly the Timex of Macintoshes.
