Not to mention that the Rom Dimm would be compatible and not require any

Maybe yes, maybe no.

The Rev. B ROM DIMM is intended for Rev. 2 mobos; the Rev. C ROM DIMM is
intended for Rev. 3a and 3b mobos.

The Rev. B and C ROM DIMMs "fix" the EIDE Slave support issues, when
installed in a Rev. 1 mobo, but these ROM DIMMs also address the differences
in the video circuitry, associated with their own mobos, and also fix some
other issues as well.

Using a Rev. B or C ROM DIMM in a Rev. 1 machine will indeed add Slave
support to that Rev. 1 machine. You must do your own testing to ensure that
there are other compatibility issues which rear their ugly heads,
particularly compatibility issues in the video area.
