I thought what the hell and tweaked the modem. It's a Pro modem now :) It does
routing, is always on and does the PPTP from there and it runs a DHCP server
now :)
There was one problem and that was that it didn't save the config with my
authorization code and ISP DNS nrs when I rebooted the modem or turned it off.
After posting to the newsgroup where I found the tweak info, someguy remembered
that it looked like something in the past where people had problems because of
the '=' sign in their password. And yes that's what I had in my password. So I
changed it and now it's fine.
I borrowed a hub from work and connected both my Mac as my brothers PC to the
hub which is and was connected to the ADSL modem. Set the TCP/IP prefs to DHCP
server and yes we could both browse the internet :) And yes we could both play
online games and/ or to eachother :)
So when the time comes that they take away my three extra IP nrs we still can
both get online and at the same time :) I will get the free router, but don't
have to use it. I only have to buy an 5 port Ethernet switch now and I'm done
:) Which one should I get, Linksys, Farallon, D-link, Asante, Amigo?
