Ie, if you have a CD-ROM drive as master and the hard drive as a slave, you would want to switch the two as running as master would boost the drive's performance. Is there any truth to that? >> I cannot conform not deny that assertion. There are so many EIDE/UATA chip sets in Mac and Wintels alike, that proving that generalization would be difficut and time consuming. EIDE/UATA "voodo" is becoming as eclectic as SCSI "voodoo" was. I have run an UATA/100 hard drive in the place of my Zip (which is Slave) on my MT and I didn't notice any difference. Perhaps that's because Masters and Slaves are "peers". In general, Bus 0 should be used for fast drives and Bus 1 for slow(er) drives. In the DT and MT, both Bus 0 and Bus 1 are EIDE. In the B&W Bus 0 is UATA/33 while Bus 1 is still EIDE. In the G4 Bus 0 is UATA/66 while Bus 1 is still EIDE. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
