Oh dear god. I'm guessing a lot of your stability problems are related to bad memory... Many times bad memory will show up, but it still has issues (ie, unexpected freezes). I just had it happen with a friends powermac 6500, pulling the bad ram solved all her problems. Installing ram in a running machine would be a good way to cause problems. :) I don't know what to tell you, I've never heard of bad ram suddenly becoming ok and running correctly... So maybe it's not. But I would be very suspicious of it, and if it is the ram try to get it back to them before your warranty is up. Heh, whether or not you choose to tell them about how you installed it is up to you (could seriously affect whether or not you have a warranty with them). Btw, plug and play is a marketing term on the wintel side of things. On the pc side, almost every piece of hardware you would buy would come with its own drivers/software... Which created absolute havoc and compatibility problems. So plug and play means you can plug a USB hard drive in, and the OS will recognize it, or a monitor, or sound card, etc. But, remember to turn everything on your computer off if you are going to be installing anything, unless it is specifically hot-swappable and plugs into an outer port (any USB or firewire device, like your mouse, keyboard, etc). -- Michael Bryan Bell http://homepage.mac.com/michael_bell/ -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
