It sounds crazy when I say it, but think of all the useless extra features
electronics makers put into things, while ignoring basic stability, quality,
and usability problems.

How many extra man-hours and research dollars did it take to give the newer
iMacs a sleep indicator that doesn't just change color, doesn't just blink,
but pulsates/dims on and off?

While they were so busy adding that feature they could have been making it
so that my iMac doesn't crash every time it wakes up from sleep.

And have you browsed Wal-Mart's stereo aisle lately? Every consumer stereo
system has scrolling multicolor text displays that say "hello" and "goodbye"
and "Oh, yeah, turn up the bass some more big boy" while at the same time
using incredibly crummy tissue-paper woofers.

And then there's the microwave ovens with color LCD touch screens and CD
quality sound for the "beep" indicating your popcorn is done being burnt.

Aww, thanks.

*Does so.*
