Since the shift to USB printers and the rapid flush-out of serial
printers from the retail system, we have a growing problem with
finding printers for 68k and non-PCI Macs. As printers contain a lot
of moving parts, they're likely to be the first components to fail.
IMHO, the quickest way to kill off all those older Macs, irrespective
to their use-by date still being in the dim distant future, will be
that if you can't print any of your output, they're dog-tucker.

Anyway, I've got two Stylewriter 1200s here, both in perfect nick
EXCEPT that the rubber bands that feed the paper forward have lost
their stickiness. They go through the feeding action, but the paper
just sits there. If I grab the first piece of paper and manual push
it at the appropriate moment, it reluctantly moves down, settling
down when the front roller gets a grip on it.

Has anyone figured out a method for restoring the grip of the two
bands and the O ring on the feed shaft? I've tried lightly sanding
with emery paper but no luck.
