Hi All,

The other day, I burnt up a third KDS Avitron
AV-195TF monitor in 18 months on my highly modified
Beige G3 DT running OS 9.2.2. This time the monitor
went all yellow.

I have the monitor connected to an ATI Nexus 128 32mb
video card, running 1024x768@120hz, which is a
"recommended" resolution in the monitors control
panel. A friend of mine
told me that it was quite likely that the high refresh
rate "used up" (in his words) the monitor. I noticed
in the control strip that there is another option;
1024x768@85hz.

I just looked at the monitor's page on the KDS web
site here:

<http://www.kdsusa.com/product_detail.asp?prod=168>

They have a max resolution of 1600x1200@85hz, and an
optimal resolution of 1280x1024@85hz. I'm too blind to
see at either of those choices, so I set the monitor
to 1024x768. I would gather though, that refresh rates
higher than 85hz are past the capabilities of this
monitor.

I backed the refresh rate back down to 85hz, but it is
too late for this monitor, I'm afraid. Did I fry it by
running at 120hz? Or are KDS monitors total junk? Or
both? TIA for any advice. (Kyle?)
