My brand new G4 800 does not boot as fast as my b&w G3. I have no raid card,
but I do have the Sonnet Ultra66, I boot from the system IDE though.. I just
accepted it as normal.
Remember the hardware is a lot different than the B&W motherboard.. It may
just be there is that much more needed to get it off the ground..
